NAVY OPEN HOUSE The month of May was certainly a good one, since there was the E-learning week on week 5, which meant that we didn’t need to come to school for lessons. The class went for the Navy open House at Changi Naval Base on the 21st of May, which was on the last day of the E-learning week. We were ferried to the location by chartered buses. Once there, we proceeded on to view the huge ships that were docked at the piers. We had to climb up and down steep stairs carefully as we were not used to taking such stairs. It was an eye-opener for all of us, since we had the opportunity to discover what’s in a navy ship. There was also a helicopter which we explored too. There was even a machine gun that was attached to the helicopter! Apparently, it is used to shoot at the enemies. After all the exploration, it was time to assemble at grand stand for the ship cruise at noon. The ship cruise was the highlight of the Navy Open House and the entire class was excited about it since this was the first time that all of us were on board a navy ship. Not every visitor to the Navy Open House could experience the ship cruise since balloting was required, so we were thankful to Jo-An Toh for winning the facebook quiz and won the ship cruise tickets. There was a breeze as the ship cruised in the waters off Singapore and our hair flew along in the breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, especially when the ship made a 360 degrees turn. When the cruise was over, we had snacks and drinks before playing games in the air-conditioned tents. After which, we took a coach back to school. We were worn out by then. Some of us were sun burnt too, which was no surprise since the sun was burning hot by the time we were on the ship cruise. ![]() ![]() By Ailsie

Yours truly. Classmates ! Since Mr Steward has cancelled tmr food ingredient lecture and Mr Tay has cancelled tmr unit operation tutorial, we will not need to come to school. Food Chemistry Practical 3 and 4a reports which are supposed to hand it to me tmr will also change. Please bring your practical 3 and 4a to school on Coming Monday Food Chemistry Lecture which is 31 may 2010. I will collect from all of you and hand in to her. Hand in practical 3 and 4a on 31 may 2010. Regarding practical 3, I have feedback to miss marlene that the class cannot find the concentration of sodium bicarbonate in baking soda.She replied to me that if you cannot find concentration of sodium bicarbonate in baking soda then just put the calculated value in your conclusion. For practical 3 conclusion, just put the calculated value. Monday - 31 may 2010- Food Chemistry Lecture will be a revision lecture for us from week 1 to week 6 lecture notes. Please be punctual so you we won't lose anything for Common Test Tuesday - 1 june 2010- Since Food Micro lecture has becoming E-learning for us so we will have a revision of practical from week 1 to week 4 at N504 11pm to 1pm. Reminder Common test on week 8 Food Chemistry lecture - Tested on week 1 to 6 lecture notes and week 1 to 4 practicals . Please feel free to clear your doubts with me . Dear class, Please remember to bring FOOD CHEMISTRY experiment 4b tomorrow(24 May) so that Ms Marlene can go through that e-practical with all of you during lecture. those who don't know how to do, at LEAST draw the different stages of the starch development. the slides are found in blackboard. And. There's no FOOD CHEMISTRY practical on thursday(27 May), so school ends at 1pm for all of us. (: but the remaining 2 REPORTS must still be handed in to Hui Xian on thursday. There's NO SCHOOL on Friday(28 May) due to public holiday(vesak day). Please send the project 2 survey to Haris if you have not done so. Any other matters, do contact me and oktavia.thank you.

As usual, each year, our class will be given a sum of money to be used for CLASS OUTING. This year, i'm not really sure where our class will be heading to. If you guys do have any ideas, tell me and Oktavia okay? :) Here's some that i have in mind: Night Safari. Singapore Zoo. Singapore Discovery Centre. Marina Bay Sands. Marina Barrage. Singapore Botanical Garden. Bowling + Movies + Dinner. The class outing will be held most probably during June holidays, so please make yourselves FREE. I will confirm the date with all of you after Common Test. Also, here's an update for this week; Wednesday (19 May) There will be a training session (for those who volunteered) in school for the Chinese Herbs Exhibiton. Friday (21 May) Navy Open House. Please be punctual as we are tagging another class, :( Be at the Atrium by 8.45am. Saturday (22 May) Sports Carnival Be in School by 9am For those who have written down their names. Dear class, a few important matters to take note of : 1. For tomorrow (13 May), please bring Experiment 3 & 4a for FOOD CHEMISTRY practical. 2. There will be NO UNIT OPERATIONS tutorial tomorrow. (13 May) 3. Since on FRIDAY (20 May) the week after the e-learning week(which is week 6) is a public holiday due to vesak day, there will be no UNIT OPERATIONS lecture. thus, the make-up lecture will be divided into 2 days. 1 hour per day. One day from week 4(which is this week) and one day from week 7. For week 4, come for UNIT OPERATIONS lecture this FRIDAY (14 May) at 9am! For week 7, come for UNIT OPERATIONS lecture on FRIDAY (4 June) at 9am! 4. Send out the things that MS GAN told of of you to HARIS (haris_1591@live.com.sg) for project 2 on MONDAY.
